Crystal ManiscalcoMy name is Crystal, owner of Naturally Fit Lifestyle and Training Studio, blessed wife, fulfilled momma of three beautiful children, and lover of all things natural and wholesome for the health of my family!

Qualifications

I am a Kinesiologist at heart, Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist via NSCA-CSCS, Certified Pre/Post-Natal Specialist, a Nutrition/Lifestyle Coach, Holistic Healing Advocate, and I have my Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology: Applied Exercise Science.

Passion

Kinesiology has been my initial passion for years.  I love helping people feel and move better by studying and restoring the mechanics of their movement and identifying imbalances in their body’s structure and rebalancing them.

Since having my kids, I have found another passion in helping women rebuild and discover balance within their post-baby bodies and in their life. I know how busy life gets, especially being a momma, so I wanted to provide an inclusive resource for you to go to and find educated information about fitness, weight loss, health, nutrition, natural living, and healing all located under my  Naturally Fit Momma Blog.

Crystal had been my personal trainer during the past year. I found her to be an excellent trainer who demonstrates great skill, teaching and leadership qualities. She was able to pinpoint my baseline status and develop an appropriate plan to improve not only my health but also help me reach my personal goals of improving my appearance, strength and flexibility.

Crystal found me just having had spinal (robotic) surgery and she was careful to ensure that I didn’t go too fast. But she also made sure that I didn’t slack off either. Each session was varied and different, not only to focus on different muscle groups but also to keep my interest up and previously-worked muscles a rest. She knows just how far to push without overtaxing you or setting you up to fail.

She not only teaches as the session unfurls; she also listens (and adjusts the session as needed). She pays an appropriate amount of time and attention to rolling out and stretching muscles (an often overlooked aspect to being fit!).

When I first decided to hire a personal trainer, I reviewed the list of trainers available at my gym. I decided on Crystal because she had the most education – a college degree in Kinesiology- which I have learned is the study of body movement. I wanted a trainer with more than just a certification in personal training because I had some health issues and was probably going to be facing a double hip replacement in my future.

I couldn’t be happier! We had an initial consultation where we reviewed what I was looking to accomplish with my workouts. I tried her out for 6 weeks and loved the definition my body was starting to show and have continued on. She keeps the workouts fresh and new and challenging. Crystal knows so much about the human body and how it moves. She tells me what muscles are being used for each exercise and how by a slight move, you can work a different muscle. In addition to a good workout, I’m always learning something too.

Crystal was able to tailor my workouts to comply with my doctors’ orders. I couldn’t really have stress on my knee and hip joints and she easily knew which machines were good for me and what exercises to avoid. So when I did schedule my hip replacement surgery, she made sure to include hip flexor muscle exercises each week to get my body ready. I’m in rehab now and my physical therapist said I am a poster child for hip replacement recovery. I give Crystal credit for how well I am recuperating.

I look so forward to my workouts with Crystal because of her warm, friendly, caring and encouraging spirit.

I met Crystal in November of 2009 when I was trying to get my weight back under control. I had gained 40 lbs over a period of 6 years during a tenuous relationship. I had limited stamina when the training process started. One of my goals was to feel strong enough to participate in a spinning class.

I worked out with Crystal 3 times per week for the 1st two months of my venture. The workouts combined with 3 healthy meals a day and snacks (with a lot of water!) proved to escalate the weight loss. It all worked and the inches and body fat decreased significantly. Remarkable within a matter of weeks my increase in stamina was measurable and off I went to spinning class. In no time I was spinning regularly in combination with the workouts with Crystal.

I attribute my successes to Crystal partnering with me to overcome the challenges of losing a large amount of weight, safely and with an action plan to keep it off. I dropped from a size 16 to a size 10 in approximately 8 months.

Crystal’s encouragement and support was essentially to my achievement. She taught me more than an exercise program; I was able to harness the stress in my life confidently and I learned how to push myself out of my comfort zone to maximize my workouts.

And yes, my golf game did improve with my strength training. My handicap dropped from a 24 to an 18 this season. I owe part of the golf success to the newfound mental game that is all a part of feeling, living and being healthy.

I will always be grateful for the friendship and support that Crystal showed me through this life changing experience. Essentially I learned that we are all stronger than we think!

Crystal is a tremendous personal trainer. I worked with her for a period of about a year before and during my first pregnancy. I have been weight training and running consistently for the past 15 years, and have worked out with many personal trainers. Crystal is the best I have worked with.

Even during my pregnancy, her workouts were unique, varied, and intense, and she pushes and motivates me at a level that feels just right to me, and does not compromise my safety. She is adept at mixing functional training with more traditional weight-bearing exercises and is skilled at keeping my muscles challenged, so that I notice consistent, incremental results. She helped me to increase my flexibility as well, and has been a positive encouragement to me as I progress through my pregnancy.

I look forward to working with Crystal again postpartum and would be happy to recommend her to others.

When I started going the gym, I originally did not plan to ever see a personal trainer. As my 18th birthday present, my mom bought me six hours of personal training with Crystal. It was a great choice, and I do not regret it.

Crystal worked on my strength and conditioning, to prepare me for my upcoming Rugby season. The workouts really helped me to get back into shape (after being out of shape for about eight months), lose weight, and prepare for the fall Rugby season. Not only did she help me with the training and getting in shape, but she also showed me some new stretches that improved my flexibility, and has really helped to prevent certain sports related injuries that I would have otherwise encountered.

My overall experience with Crystal as my personal trainer was great, and the training was definitely time and money well spent.

I’ve been an avid runner most of my life. At age 53 I’ve naturally slowed down but have also discovered that I was tight and sore after most of my workouts. The normal stretching I was doing didn’t seem to be enough. I sought help and was very lucky to find a trainer at my gym that helped me tremendously.

Crystal has helped stretch me out about once a week for the last few months. Since I’ve started doing personal sessions with her vie learned so many new stretches that I have incorporated into my normal routine. I also feel absolutely terrific after my sessions with Crystal. She is very professional as well as being one of the nicest people I know. Crystal has vast knowledge due to her gymnast background and teaches it in a very motivating way.

Since I’ve been working with Crystal I’ve been running faster and more injury free that I have for years. I cannot recommend Crystal enough for anyone who wants to improve themselves in any way.
